It's Happening! On WhatsApp: 'companion mode' released for beta users, can use same number on two phones

WhatsApp users have been demanding a feature for a long time, with the help of which they can access WhatsApp on other smart devices. On the demand of users, the platform is currently testing a feature that will allow users to link their WhatsApp account with a secondary device (Android). According to new reports, the Meta-proprietary platform is testing the feature on the smartphone by activating it for some beta testers.

This feature is named 'companion mode'. WABetaInfo tweeted, 'It's happening! WhatsApp is releasing 'companion mode' on Android beta! Thanks to this new mod, some beta testers can finally link their WhatsApp account to a secondary mobile phone!'

How does this feature work? Shared a screenshot to show it:

As per above screenshot you can link your account with other device very easily. For this you find 'Link Device' option. Using it you can use the messaging service on your other smartphone.

After linking the WhatsApp account to the secondary device, your chat history will be synced to the linked phone. However, as this is a beta version, some features may not be available, including the ability to view live locations and features such as broadcast lists and stickers. WhatsApp is expected to release 'companion mode' for more users in the coming weeks.

Follow these steps if you want to join the WhatsApp Android Beta program and use the new features before others.

Step-1 Go to Google Play Store.
Step-2 Search WhatsApp in the search bar.
Step-3 Open the WhatsApp page and scroll down where you will see the 'Become Beta Tester' option.
Step-4 Click on 'I'm in' and then confirm with 'Join'

Talking about privacy, this new update will ensure that all calls and messages will be end-to-end encrypted. The report goes on to say, 'When someone sends you a message, it will be sent to all your connected devices, so encryption is always preserved.'

The instant messaging platform has undergone several recent changes, including increased participation in group and call links. It will also soon release new features like the ability to send messages to yourself and hide your online status. It is worth mentioning here that the platform keeps rolling out new updates to keep users on the platform and do private business. You can also become a beta tester for the platform by visiting the Play Store, going to the WhatsApp app and scrolling between and registering yourself.

The 'Do Not Disturb' feature is also being tested
if your phone is in 'Do Not Disturb' mode and during that time if you have received an audio or video call on WhatsApp, the platform is also testing a feature that will notify you. So, users do not miss their important calls.
